BREAKING NEWS!!

The big day has finally arrived!!!! Ausin made his trip home at 11:00 AM this morning.

His trip to the NICU lasted exactly 90 days. He was born at 29 weeks, 4 days gestationally speaking. Today he is 3 months old. He weighed 2 pounds, 10.3 ounces when he was born. Today he is 8 pounds, 4.4 ounces. His birth length was 16.25 inches and he left at 19.3 inches.

He left with an umbilical hernia and a hydrocele on his left testicle (fluid around the testicle). He also still has a moderate PDA and an atrial septal defect (hole between the upper two chambers of the heart). We were told that all of these are normal for a premature baby and that they should resolve on their own with time.

With a couple sniffs, Austin and Baxter became brothers. The two hit it off...well they could really care less about one another at this point. Barking doesn't seem to bother Austin at all, which is a good thing since that is Baxter's favorite past time.

Thanks to everyone's prayers, words of encouragement, assistance and just being there for us, we were able to make it through the past 3 months. We can't thank you all enough. Up to this point, it's been surreal. We always knew we had a son but we never actually felt it. Mommy and daddy are happy to now feel like they have a son. And trust us, it's a good feeling!
