First Eskimo and Valentine's Kisses

My first Valentine's kiss!

Grandma Netz came up yesterday to see me and to bring some things for my room. She loves sewing so she bought patterns and made me sheets, blankets, wall pictures, curtains, etc for my nursery. Daddy and mommy said it's almost complete and looks great, but there are a few minor things to finish up. Thanks for everything, Grandma Netz!!

The occupational therapist was nice enough to take a picture of all of us.

Just hangin' out after bath time, which I LOVE!

I had another eye exam this week. They said everything is looking good and my next follow-up will be in a year.

My chest x-ray they did on Friday was the best they have ever seen. Which means the fluid in my lungs is going away, most likely from the diuretics. So I'm having a much easier time breathing. My oxygen levels have been at room air and my oxygen saturation rates have been close to 100%, which is really good.

The other night, I couldn't stop looking at daddy. Daddy said he really liked it and thought it was a neat experience.

Today I weiged in at 6 pounds! I am now 18.1 inches long.

On Thursday, the nurse practioner told mommy that I wasn't really progressing on the nippling and that I had been doing the same for the past couple weeks. They normally find that babies progress pretty fast when they start to nipple. Mommy already knew that I wasn't doing that great, but broke down when she told her. And not only was the nurse practioner there, the regular bedside nurse and the lactation consultant were in the room as well. Mommy didn't really know why she was crying since she already knew I wasn't doing that great with the nippling, but the fact that she was crying in front of 3 other people, made her cry more. Mommy felt bad for the nurse practioner because she could sense that she felt uncomfortable because it was probably something that she said. Ever since then, the nurses have been really nice and upbeat when delivering news. I wonder why =)

I'm happy to say, that I am doing better with the nippling though. The occupational therapist came by Friday and Saturday and scolded mommy and daddy for letting me develop bad habits. They said that nippling isn't sleep time, it's time to eat. So they gave us some new tricks to try and they have been working. I now average about 32 cc of milk, up from 16cc. I'm supposed to be taking 45 each time, so I'm almost there.

In preemies, the valve that stops food from coming back up usually isn't closed yet. So food is constantly coming back up, unless I'm elevated a little. Well I hit the gestational age where I should no longer be elevated so they put my bed level. Since then, I've had a few accidents where food comes back up. So they started me on Prilosec yesterday to see if that helps. Mommy and daddy think they should just elevate my bed instead, but what do we know?

My first eskimo kiss with the best mommy ever!
