For the first 4.5 hours, I was able to breath on my own with a little help of the CPAP. Then my oxygen levels were getting too low so they hooked me up to the ventilator. The ventilator does a lot more work for me than the CPAP does, which I needed because my lungs are not fully developed yet. I wanted to come out so fast that the doctors only got one shot of steroids in Mommy before I was ready to join the family. The doctors told me that the ideal is two shots as it helps build the lungs, but I was too impatient and wanted to see Mommy and Daddy.
I really like it when Mommy places one hand on my feet and one hand on my head, then presses lightly. It makes me feel like I'm back in my previous home.
